Matthew Holman, Principle, EMW Law

Matthew has a BA Honours degree in Law (First Class) and qualified as a solicitor in 2008. He specialises in commercial, IP/IT and data protection law.

He was recognised as an “Associate to Watch” in Chambers 2015 and Chambers 2016 and is a “Noted Practitioner” in Chambers 2017. Matthew is also a Recommend Lawyer in The Legal 500.

In 2016, he was promoted to Principal in the Commercial Team and is responsible for overseeing EMW’s technology law team. He is one of only 20 lawyers in the UK to have attained the Society For Computers and Law Accredited IT Lawyer status, recognising his expertise in contract law, IP/IT and data protection law.

He and his team act for many UK plcs, global brands and technology businesses.

Matthew is (admittedly) a bit of a data protection geek and regularly writes articles and delivers presentations about the topic. He delivers EMW’s Annual Data Protection Conference and round table workshops for clients and in-house lawyers.

David Starsmeare, Lead Solutions Consultant, Mirus

David is the Lead Team Member within the Solutions Consultants Team here at Mirus and also our internal champion when it comes to the Government’s Cyber Essentials.

The Cyber Essentials certification is the government-backed industry-recognised accreditation for businesses that wish to demonstrate their cyber security best practice and reduce their exposure to cyber threats.

This session will cover why we think Cyber Essentials is a good idea, the requirement for your business achieving the standard, and the process you'll go through to get certified.

Watch as a Cyber Security Expert from Datto, willingly infects a device and recovers it in under a minute. Here we're demonstrating the importance of secure and fast data recovery.

As ever, you’ll also have the chance to network with peers over a buffet lunch and plenty of coffee.
