A bit of a Valentines Love-In

This Valentines we’ve asked our team to let us know what they love about working here at Mirus HQ. Here are the top 5 responses.

1. The Food
Believe it or not, the pick and mix seems to be a winner. We ‘mix it up’ each month, with a new selection and fill the nine boxes to the brim with calorific traditional sweets, nuts and dried fruit. We also have a monthly Friday Feed, where we provide lunch for all. Plus with all the birthdays (office birthday cakes rules apply!) we’ve something generally available at least once a week!

2. The Location
We’re on a lake, we’re at the end of the A5, we’re right by some shops and we have lots of lovely free parking. Without a doubt, it’s a rather noteworthy favourite thing about working here.

3. Investing in our People
We ensure that our staff have access to training to improve their knowledge and skills for their role. We provide them with not only access to the relevant courses and qualifications they need to progress at Mirus, but to encourage their educational growth as an individual as well. In such a fast-moving industry, we need to ensure that we’re on top of the various technological advances, and that we’re able to provide the best support to our clients. Ensuring our staff are trained to the highest level, guarantees we provide the best service we can – happy all round.

4. Our Apprenticeship Schemes
We have seven apprentices working at Mirus, some are now employed as fully fledged Mirus colleagues, and some, we still support with their education. It’s important to us that we invest in the future of the industry, that our apprentices will shape. We’ve ensured they’re learning and developing in a working environment, supported and enabled their studies and been on hand to help them gain experience and qualifications that will set them up in their future IT career.

5. The Management
The last in our top five is the Management. We have a rather unconventional team of Directors and Managers at Mirus, and they’re often mentioned as reasons our teams enjoy their roles. They may run the business, but they’re more like team members than Directors. Empowering as managers, they’re integral and engaged members of their teams. Paul, the MD, is hands on and personable, highly knowledgeable and constantly looking for ways to ensure the company and people here experience growth and are rewarded for their efforts. It’s a refreshing and honest environment.

I‘ve been at Mirus for almost six months now and it’s great to be part of something so organic and honest. Charity events are positively encouraged, personal challenges and group events are happening all the time, I’m even part of the MTeam cycling challenge from London to Bruge for Mind BLMK later this year (you can sponsor us here). We have great collaborative relationships with competitors and we're active within our community. It’s clearly more than where we all work, it’s a family and one we all seem to be very proud to be a part of.

Have a great Valentines! I hope you also work somewhere you love.

Liam, Business Development Executive at Mirus IT
