June was yet another super busy month for the MTeam – it seems there’s always something going on here at Mirus!
We kicked off this month with a success story. Our Digital Marketing Apprentice Ronni Murray not only passed her CIM Level 4 Qualification as part of her apprenticeship but also her HubSpot Email Marketing exam. Well done Ronni!
We’re also proud to announce a trio of new faces joining to the MTeam. In June, we welcomed; Michael Webb– Field Services Technician, Rakesh Soneji – Service Desk Technician for the Blue Team, and Nick Bavington – Service Operations Engineer.
Of course, we have to mention MirusFest, our own personal festival that took place in the middle of June. Thank you to everyone who helped to make it happen – Jack, Tom and PT. There were many activities this year including clay pigeon shooting, knife throwing, Segway riding and a veritable feast of food and drinks. The weather held out, and all who came had a fantastic time.
We’ve a blog dedicated to the whole shebang here.
This June we also entered the Milton Keynes Soapbox Derby - and won it! Our team of builders and racers spent weeks preparing and fine-tuning our Top-Gun inspired kart, and the hard work certainly paid off. The proceeds from the event were all in aid of raising money for the Milton Keynes Charity Hospital.
Well done to all involved – Richard Finch, Paul O’Connor, Hannah Braxton, Adam Hatton, Iain Kendrick, Aishling Savchuk, Tom Williams, Nick Sanderson and Darren Challender. And a big thanks to our Junior Mavericks; Molly, Bailey and Amelia. You can read all about our success in the blog here.
That’s not the only thing we won this month, however. Towards the end of June, our Sales Director, Dan Sharp, flew all the way out to San Diego to attend DattoCon 2019. While there, he was unexpectedly presented with none other than Dattocon’s “Innovator of the Year award”, accredited to everyone at Mirus. Well done MTeam! You can read more about the award in our short blog entry here – though we’ll spare you the video of Dan’s impromptu karaoke celebration.
Elsewhere, we took part in our regular charity work with a spot of volunteering. Over the space of two days, a few members of the MTeam gave a little back to the local community by assisting the Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre in a spot of gardening.
The team spent the days digging, planting and bringing the Centre’s sensory garden to life for visitors. Thank you to those who volunteered; Richard Finch, Mandy Wilkinson, Jack Winkel, Alison Reynolds, Laura James, Tom Williams, Fiona Williams, Sarah Mott, Hannah Braxton, Paul O’Conner, Imogen Carpenter and Lee Osborn. You can read more on their green-fingered exploits here.
We celebrated the 10th birthday of local charity, Ride High. Providing horse care and riding sessions for underprivileged children, Ride High celebrated 10 years of charitable causes with their “Rock Red” campaign. Mirus rocked some red of their own on Friday 21st, dressed in red to raise money for this wonderful local charity.
We once again signed off another great month with our traditional Friday feed. This month, we tucked into an utterly delectable ploughman’s lunch; with loaf after loaf of thick, crusty bread, succulent cured meats and a wealth of cheeses to get the mouth watering. Thanks – once again - to Jack for arranging it all. Yummy!
Naturally, for such a delicious spread and for all his work in making MirusFest a weekend to remember, our Colleague of the Month award could only go to Jack Winkel. Coupled with the many tasks he tackles in and around the office every day, helping to make working at Mirus even more enjoyable, he’s an exceptional asset to the team.
Here’s what the MTeam had to say:
"I vote Jack, he looked hard at work for Mirusfest and as far as I could see everyone had a great time 😊"
"I’d like to put Jack Winkel forward for colleague of the month, he obviously arranged MirusFest and arranged the Friday Feed yet again for the month. During MirusFest he was constantly making sure everything was kept on top of, which allowed everyone to have a good time."
"Jack Winkel for his efforts at Mirus Fest.’‘Jack please – our very own Mr Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious who smashed MirusFest out of the park!"
"Jack Winkel for his first successful Mirus Fest. I thought it was amazing, and on the day he really got in the spirit with making the food and making sure people were happy."
We're all truly grateful, Jack. Thank you!
Another jam-packed a month!
As summer is almost officially here, we’ll be sure to have a fun-filled month for July too; basking in the sun at lunch, taking part in more local events, and enjoying another glorious month of new faces, achievements and charitable causes. - July is gonna be good!
