Always looking to play our part in the community, Mirus have recently identified a way to utilise old and redundant IT equipment to aid the scientific community find a cure for cancer. The old PCs and servers that we have that would have previously been disposed of, will be rebuilt and used to create a grid network that will be used for the processing of medical data to aid organisations in their search for cures to some of the most common cancers.
The solution is currently made up of 12 desktop computers which are based within the Mirus office in Linford Wood, Milton Keynes, which will be added to as and when additional equipment is available. The team will be giving up their own time to get the ‘Grid’ solution up and running as quickly as possible.
Paul Tomlinson, Managing Director at Mirus IT Solutions, adds ‘One of our team approached me with an idea as to how we could make better use of the old equipment that we have within the company. They wanted to donate their evening and weekend time to get this up and working and I was delighted to be able to support them and help such a fantastic cause’
