Autumn’s Coming – September Monthly

Now that Summer is almost over – sorry to break it to you – the Autumn routine has crept back into our lives; our holidays are over, our kids are settled back into school, and conversations turn increasingly to Christmas.

And while leaves, like the rain, are falling in abundance, the MTeam continue in their good spirits - delivering the best in customer service regardless of the weather.

This September, three of our MTeam members joined our friends from IT Lab, Perspective Risk and Content & Code to tackle a 30-mile walk along Hadrian’s Wall, raising money for two charitiesThe Cure Parkinson’s Trust and Mind. We raised a brilliant £15,000 between the two, so congratulations are due for Laura James, Ryan Lightfoot and Paul O’Connor, all of whom got involved. Laura and Ryan went on to complete the full 30 miles of the walk, while Paul learned the hard way that he perhaps hadn’t trained enough(!), managing 10 miles of the undulous course before calling it a day. Nonetheless, Paul was instrumental in raising our current total (sitting at a staggering £16.7k at the time of writing) through his fundraising page. And he still managed to walk much further than the rest of the hundred-plus MTeam members!

We’re delighted to welcome two new starters, Jamie Sapsed and Alex Wood. Jamie joins us as a Service Desk Engineer for the Red Team, and Alex as a Service Operations Technician on the aptly-named Service Operations Desk. Welcome both!

Yet it’s not just our Service Desks who have expanded their capabilities this month. Our apprentice, Harry Shaw has successfully passed his Infrastructure Technician Level 3 apprenticeship. Well done, Harry!

While we’re celebrating our staff achievements, let’s not forget the all-important Colleague of the Month award. This month, the honour goes to James Mildren, our Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer! One of our recent clients was incredibly positive about the work he’d done, and his achievements were equally revered by many other members of the MTeam. A well-deserved win, James, so well done indeed!

It’s safe to say that Rugby World Cup fever has hit the Mirus offices this month. Anna Wingerath, the Hospitality Sales Executive for the Northampton Saints, dropped by the office to promote discounted tickets to the Saints stadium as part of our partnership with the prolific team.

We also launched our competition to win an England Rugby shirt signed by Dylan Hartley, former England Rugby manager and one of the nation’s best hookers. It’s not too late (as longs as it's before 5pm on Friday 4th October) to enter the contest – good luck!

Finally, we donated a signed Northampton Saints rugby ball to the Bletchley Rugby Club. The ball will be raffled at the team’s next Bletchley Rugby Club Mirus IT Sportsman’s Lunch to raise funds for the Under 15’s tour.

Speaking of donations, our Macmillan Coffee Morning was another fundraising triumph, with the MTeam providing a trove of delicious home-made cakes and raising £147.41 for Macmillan Cancer Support. A big thank you to everyone who donated!

As if the promise of cakes wasn’t tantalising enough, this week’s Friday Feed was a true treat for the taste buds. Courtesy of the folks at The Healthy Jamaican Kitchen, the MTeam tucked into some utterly scrumptious Caribbean cuisine, with their jerk chicken and goat curry making for some hearty lunchtime eating. The perfect way to warm up as the cold weather crept in!

As we enter October, the MTeam awaits another month of exciting events, not to mention our usual Halloween festivities! You can follow our exploits us on our new Instagram page. Follow us and stay up to date on the latest exciting events at Mirus!
