2019: November’s Monthly Mirus Roundup

Sandwiched between Hallowe’en and Christmas is the relatively unassuming month of November – a typically wet and chilly month saved by the extravagance of our nation’s yearly bonfire night. And while there were no sparklers or colourful explosions going on at Mirus HQ, there was still plenty to celebrate.

We’re delighted to welcome three new starters to the MTeam this November; please join us in welcoming Chris Alben, Jordan Barreau and Gary Williams. Welcome aboard gentlemen – we know you’ll love it here!

Kicking off an excellent month for Mirus, 7 of our bravest senior managers took part in the CEO Sleepout, sleeping rough on the streets of Milton Keynes to raise money for the CEO Sleepout charity, MK Dons Set and the Milton Keynes YMCA. We caught up with all 7 participants in our recent blog, where they share both their hopes and their hardships following the night. Our combined efforts raised a fantastic £5,700, so well done for everyone who took part in this incredible endeavour.

That’s not the only success we’ve had this month. Two of our (now former!) apprentices successfully graduated their apprenticeship with MK College. Congratulations to Joe Humphries and Harry Shaw, for passing their Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals and their Apprenticeship Standard in IT Infrastructure (Level 3) respectively!

Well done gentlemen – we look forward to seeing where the future takes you!

Speaking of graduations, Ryan Scully, our Content Marketing Executive, has successfully passed his HubSpot Social Media Marketing exam! This is the first exam that Ryan has passed since joining the team in February, demonstrating that he’s smart, handsome, and responsible for the sentence that you’re currently reading.

Let’s also congratulate November’s Employee of the Month: Bradley Matten, Internal Systems Engineer! Feedback received included:

“So helpful, always wants to help.”

“Such a polite guy.”

“The man is always smiling and is mega helpful. He also puts up with Dave, and should get an award for that!”

Well done Bradders!

Others nominated included Sarah, Nick, Martin, Iain G, Pippa, Sabrina, Danny, Andy G, Matt, Adam and Jim!

And yet, the achievements just kept on rolling in this month. Having been invited to the CRN Channel Awards 2019, Mirus were awarded “SMB Reseller of the Year”, making this the second year the prestigious channel has recognised our commitment to clients and the IT industry! Following an extravagant ceremony at the Battersea Park venue, Pippa Loveridge and Ali Khan went onstage to collect the well-earned award – looking quite dashing as they did so, we might add.

That wasn’t all that CRN had in store for us though – once again, the channel saw fit to induct Mirus Managing Director Paul Tomlinson into their CRN A-List for another year. The A-List recognises prolific IT industry personalities, so it’s no surprise to see PT making a return. Well done, boss!

Fresh from one award and onto another, we’ve been nominated into Britain’s Top 50 Best Managed IT Companies. While we won’t know exactly where we rank until the ceremony in December, being recognised among Britain’s best is already something to celebrate. Stay tuned to the Mirus blog for news of the final result!

Well… I think that’s every major achievement of the month off the list. Just enough time to mention the tasty Mirus tradition of the Friday Feed. This week, we took a traditionally hearty approach to the winter chill by tucking into some jacket potatoes, courtesy of Myles from Snacks2U (or “The Pieman”, as he’s affectionately known to the Mirus offices). With the usual choice of fillings (including the undisputed champion, chili con carne), there was something for everyone, and we were all too happy to tuck in.

Myles is around almost every lunchtime here at Mirus, offering a selection of pies, sandwiches and jacket potatoes to our hungry staff - so who better to fill up a team of hungry workers? Cheers Myles!

Thus concludes the penultimate entry of the MTeam Monthly blog! Check back in December for our final, festive look back. There’s plenty coming up in the next few weeks the MTeam can’t wait for – so we hope to see you then.
