Apprentice Graduation 2019

Mirus Apprentices are Set for Success!

It’s a proud and inspiring day for Mirus, and even more so for our apprentice IT experts Harry and Joe – both of whom successfully passed their apprenticeships with MK College!

Field Service Technician Joe Humphries graduated in Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals, while Harry Shaw graduated in Apprenticeship Standard in IT Infrastructure (Level 3).

Our two (ex!) apprentices had their achievements recognised in a graduation ceremony at the Woburn Sculpture Gardens, the event hosted by none other than radio and television presenter Maggie Philbin OBE.

Ben Nigro, Mirus’s Technical Team Leader, had this to say of our apprentices’ success:

“I am extremely happy and proud of both Joe and Harry on their graduation day! Working with them and watching their progression, hard work and dedication over the past months, they are fully deserving of their achievements today.

Like we heard in the closing speech at the graduation event; this is just the beginning of their journey and we eagerly look forwards to their future successes.”

It was something of a rocky journey for Joe and Harry too, whose journeys to graduation were irked by some unforeseen, almost catastrophic circumstances:

“I would say this apprenticeship has been pretty crazy for me”, said Harry Shaw. “A 15 month course, that ended being nearly two years due to unfortunate consequences, left me with no guidance and doubts as to whether I would even get a qualification.  Thankfully Mk College stepped in to get me through those final parts, helping me secure my Level 3 infrastructure technician apprenticeship and allowing me to attend the graduation ceremony. A great relief!”

Joe echoed Harry’s sentiments, stating: “After the disaster with 3AAA, I am really happy to have finally graduated from MK college. It took a lot of hard work and a lot of dedicated time, but I eventually got there.”

As Joe and Harry mentioned, the sudden collapse of 3AAA left them and thousands of other hopeful apprentices stranded and without direction – which is why Harry, Joe and all of us at Mirus are grateful to MK College for stepping in and giving them the opportunity to finally graduate.

Congratulations once again to our two graduates – we look forward to seeing where you both take your skills from here!
