Pippa Loveridge is the latest MTeam member to join the CEO Sleepout! Our own, Virtually Unflappable Head of Marketing brings the number of Mirus members braving the cold November night up to 7; all in our efforts to raise money for Milton Keynes’ homeless.
The CEO Sleepout is a nationwide event in which company CEOs drop the relative comfort of their beds – or indeed, their work offices – and spend the night sleeping rough in one of the city’s most open areas. With events happening in London, Nottingham, Manchester and beyond, it’s a nationwide event with the potential to make a real difference to our nation’s homeless.
This year’s Milton Keynes event will take place around the MK Dons football stadium, and with the team now up to a hearty 7 members, we asked Pippa what made her want to join this great initiative, and what she expects from the night.
What made you want to take part in this year's CEO Sleepout?
Milton Keynes is a fantastic city, but the impact of homelessness is evident everywhere. Our city has grown and it seems that our homeless population has exploded, 1 in every 117 people in Milton Keynes is now Homeless! It’s not clear how to help personally and by participating in this, I’m hoping I’ll be able to make a small difference and play my part to raise awareness of the issue.
Will you be preparing in any way for the rough night ahead, or are you going in blind?
I’d like to ensure that I understand more about the event, and what’s expected of me. But if you’re in a situation where you have to sleep rough, I don’t think there’d be much of a chance to prepare for it, so I’m going to go in as blind as I can – but with a few pairs of warm socks and a furry deerstalker hat!
What do you predict will be the most difficult hardship to overcome?
The cold. It’s November, it’s the concourse at MK Don’s which is notorious for being a concrete wind tunnel. We’re going into work the next day straight from the event, and that’s going to be hard! We’ll use the office shower and get cracking on, what I expect to be, not a lot of sleep and probably still suffering with Raynaud’s in my hands and feet.
Best of luck to you, Pip! If you want to help donate to the event, you can do so at Pippa's just giving page right here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/pippa-loveridge-ceo-sleepout
Pip won’t be tackling the night alone, however; she’ll be joined by other MTeam members including as Paul Tomlinson, Richard Finch, Dan Sharp, Chris Maybray, Peter Hack and Tom Williams – the latter two we interviewed recently here and here.
