2019: May’s Monthly Mirus Roundup

May saw yet another beaming month for the UK and another busy one for the MTeam - with staff promotions, visits from local sporting heroes and the Milton Keynes Marathon keeping us all on our toes.

The month kicked off with another Bank Holiday and with it, the MK Marathon. This year we were proud sponsors of the Harry’s Rainbow charity, which provides support for bereaved children and their families.  Pippa Loveridge, the MTeam’s Head of Marketing, helped on the day by manning the charity stand, while Ali Khan and Rachael Jeffryes did some volunteering of their own as they manned water stand 9 for Milton Keynes’ mental health charity, Mind BLMK. A big thank you to everyone who helped out, and for giving up your bank holiday Monday!

As if to celebrate the Marathon’s exceptional turnout, we also saw fit to grant another promotion. George Hudson, one of our former apprentices, started on the Yellow team in 2017 as an Apprentice Service Desk Engineer. Since then he’s gained two promotions, becoming a Service Desk Engineer for our dedicated client support desk. Well done George for the great achievement! You can read more on George’s journey in his own words here.

That following Friday, the MTeam received a special visit from two Northampton Saints players, Dylan Hartley and Fraser Dingwall. Along with some clients, we spent some time chatting with them, getting pictures and claiming autographs. Huge thanks to our friends at the Saints for arranging this visit, and extra special thanks to both Dylan and Fraser for coming to see us!

The busy month had done little to tire out the more active members of the team, who later in May climbed the Welsh peaks of Cadair Idris in preparation for the Three Peaks Challenge. Among them were Ryan Lightfoot, Pippa Loveridge, Ben Peers, Roy Charman, Iain Kendrick and Iain’s faithful dog, Archie. Hats off guys, it didn’t look easy. If you want to read more about their adventure, our blog details it all. We’ve also got some footage of this utterly gorgeous journey on our YouTube channel – see it for yourself:

As the end of another busy month drew near, we had one last burst of excitement as two new members join our MTeam; please welcome Alex Green and Chris Alben, who’ll be joining the Yellow Team as Service Desk Engineers. Great to have you on board, Alex and Chris!

Our winner for Colleague of the Month was Martyn Butler, our Technical Escalation Engineer. Well done Martyn, here are some of the comments:

"Even though he is always extremely busy he has always been available to help me and any questions that I have. He has also taken the time to explain the details in a way that helps me learn and understand, which I am very grateful for."

"Always reliable and willing to help."

"Always a fount of knowledge."

"He's been invaluable over the past month."

We had another achievement to celebrate too. Congratulations to our Digital Marketing apprentice Ronni Murray, who successfully completed her Hubspot Social Media exams after months of lessons and training.  Well done!

We rounded off another manic month of Mirus with the traditional Friday feed – and what could be more traditional than some Friday night fish and chips? This family-favourite feast was provided the fine local folks at Howe and Co – thanks for the scrumptious food!

So, after a month of new starters, staff promotions, star-studded visits and glorious Welsh vistas, we prepare for next month’s activities - including our annual get-together at MirusFest!

To sum up; May was busy, the weather was glorious and the MTeam earned some amazing achievements – June's roundup is set to be great too!
