Armed for IT - Mirus Supports IT Careers for Armed Forces Veterans

CompTIA logoIt can be a daunting challenge leaving the fierce, regimented world of the armed forces and being abruptly thrown into a corporate lion’s den of job searching and CV writing. We often hear stories about how ex-military personnel can struggle to adapt back into civilian life, and many have a tough time finding a job.

Inspired by the courage and dedication of the armed forces, CompTIA has created the ‘Armed for IT’ careers programme, a recruitment business designed to provide opportunities and resources for service leavers, ex-service personnel and veterans interested in starting a new career. The abundance of core abilities that you need to succeed in the armed forces are very transferable into the IT sector once combined with industry certifications.

There are three main components to the programme: Learning, Certification and then Employment. Colleges and universities play an integral role through this ‘Learn-Certify-Work’ model by educating veterans at the college level required to be certified IT professionals, which is the important second step on their path to a successful career in IT.
